Safety Tips for Handling Fireworks

1. Always read and follow the label directions on fireworks packaging before igniting.

2. Never allow young children to handle fireworks. Sparklers may seem harmless, but they can reach temperatures of up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit and can cause serious burns.

3. Always have an adult present when handling fireworks.

4. Never light fireworks indoors or near dry grass or other flammable materials.

5. Make sure that you have a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby in case of fire or other mishap.

6. Light only one firework at a time and never attempt to relight a “dud” firework.

7. Never throw or point fireworks at another person, even in jest.

8. Keep spectators at least 25 feet away from the area where you are lighting fireworks and make sure that pets are kept indoors during the show for their safety and comfort level as well as yours!
